When I grow up...

I want to be a Family Photographer. That means that I need to buy a camera - one that has lenses that screw on and off. My brain is so confused - is it the camera or the person behind the camera that takes a good picture? I keep hearing and reading that you need "good glass". That means expensive lenses!!! I have aperture, ISO and shutter speed all floating around in my head. Here is what I decided for now. This is what is most important. If you don't have this - well, then just don't bother to take the camera out of the bag. The most important thing -- CUTE SUBJECTS!!!
Just wanted to share a few photos taken with a Sony Super Steady Shot DSC-H5. It has been a great little camera. But I need a Nikon or a Canon or an Olympus or a Fuji.

Uncle Owen has a Nikon D300 and loves it. It's a very pretty camera with lots of options, more than I'd ever figure out in my lifetime! But if you want to invest in lenses, I'm sure the D60 or D90 attaches to most lenses and will do a great job. I'm happy with my little D60!

We got a Nikon D40 for Christmas and we love it. We have a couple of lenses and it has been wonderful for our purposes. The D40 is the beginner SLR (fancy camera with detachable lenses) with almost all the functionality you could ever want. Definitely the D60, 80, 90, 300... are all great and probably better, but the bigger the number the bigger the price. The other great thing about the Nikon 'D' series is that most (some) of the lenses are transferable. For example my Dad has a D90 and whenever we go shoot together we can use each others lenses. So if you do upgrade cameras within the Nikon family you can keep your lenses. We love Nikon's and think the D40 is a great camera to learn on. We will send you some pics that we have taken with it. Good luck.

Those are awesome photos. We miss having our family photographer here in bali, like you did for us in Phuket. You take such good photos, we need you to tag along on more of our family vacations so we have some good photos.

You pics, and your subject are wonderful! What a big girl she is becoming. Hayley would say a Canon. I know nothing.
