Some of you young moms have posted conversations you have had with your children. I have truly enjoyed them all. They are adorable, silly, and sometimes hilarious. I thought it might be enlightening to someone out there to hear this conversation between me and my 22 year old daughter. So, listen up and learn a thing or two about grownup children and what you have to look forward to. Now, I love this girl to death but she has just spent way too much time going to school in what we call “Happy Valley”. It’s a place where you can trust everyone, feel comfortable getting help from a stranger when you break down on the freeway and never get mugged.
Tammy has been in Houston this week attending a Museum Conference in downtown Houston.
She called me Saturday afternoon:
Tammy: I can’t find my car (it is not her car; it is MY CAR). It is not where I parked it this morning.
Me: What do you mean? Did you forget where you parked it?
Tammy: No. I parked it in the same lot that I parked it in on Wed. But it is not in the space that I parked it in this morning.
Me: Ok. So, tell me what happened.
Tammy: Well, just like on Wed the guy just took my parking fee and then told me which space to park in. Oh Shoot!! He took my MONEY!!!
Me: Ok. I get that he took your money. But where is MY CAR? Did he give you a ticket to put on your dash?
Tammy: Uhhh…. NO! He scammed me and took my MONEY!!!
Me: Ok, Tammy I understand that he took your measly $5.00. Now, find out where MY CAR is.
My car was towed and impounded. Two hours and $200.00 later she was following me out of downtown Houston into the suburbs.

Yeah...guess I should be grateful that the "funny conversations" haven't cost me $200!
So why was it towed? Who did what wrong? Was it a scam/trick or was something about the parking job against the rules?
Aw that's terrible for you! But I agree, that's a pretty funny conversation!
oh no! she probably looked like an easy target. :(
Oh no. I was worried at first that it was stolen.
A similar thing happened to a friend of mine (and me) in Atlanta. We went downtown (we each just had one toddler at the time) to see Sesame Street Live at the Philips Arena. A guy wearing a vest took our parking fee. We parked. When we came back out there was a parking ticket on her car. We were shocked and angry when we realized it was an unattended lot and this guy was just standing around in a vest stealing from people. At least it was a $20 ticket and not a $200 tow. Sorry.
LOL! That is too funny- Provo certainly does make you more trusting! Poor Tammy- she probably felt terrible.
I guess I should be grateful for my 4 year old conversations and wait my time until I have them with a 22 year old. At least you got the car back. Poor Tammy & your poor wallet!
oh tammy!! how sad!!! i can hear that conversation loud and clear...how funny...
LOL! That's such a pain! I did several things like that including leaving my mom's car running (although I did lock it) while shopping in the Galleria for several hours. We had to call a locksmith to open it for us. And yes it was still running when I got back to the car.
That's great. I love to hear that kids will always be kids no matter how old they get! How are you?
